The Dinosaur Master has Left Us

I am saddened to report that on Tuesday, February 13th of 2018 author Victor Milan passed away. He had been ill for the past several months. Here is the message sent by his dear friend Patricia Rogers:

Hi All,
I have very sad news.
Victor passed at 430pm this afternoon of Myeloma complicated by pneumonia.
I was with him holding his hand. Spent the afternoon telling him how much he was loved.
It was a gentle passing.

Long-time friend George R. R. Martin had many kind things to say about Victor in this blog post, noting that " a sense [Victor Milan] was the father of Wild Cards. It was Vic who gave me the Superworld game as a birthday present back in 1983, and it was those long long nights of playing Superworld that eventually inspired me to start Wild Cards."

Victor was a prolific author, having written more than 100 novels spanning nearly four decades and multiple genres. More importantly he was kind and generous, and beloved by all who had the pleasure to know him. He will be dearly missed.

The Dinosaur Princess is Here!

WELCOME TO PARADISE: A primordial world with every species of dinosaur, large and small. And humans, who were brought to this world on the whim of the gods. Knights ride into battle on Triceratops; their heroes lead them on T-Rexes.

Karyl Bogomirskiy is one such hero. Once, he held power. Betrayed by those closest to him, he was resurrected by the Fae, magical beings native to the world, who seek to use him in their eternal battle against alien gods. Karyl just wants to be left in peace, reluctant to be anyone’s tool, much less a savior.

But the gods have returned to judge their human experiment and to finally rid the planet of the Fae. And while Karyl doesn’t feel like a hero, he’s humanity’s last best hope.

The Dinosaur Princess is the newest epic fantasy adventure set in a world where knights ride armored dinosaurs into battle, hailed by George R. R. Martin as "A cross between Jurassic Park and Game of Thrones."

The Dinosaur Knights are Here!

Paradise is a sprawling, diverse, often cruel world. There are humans on Paradise but dinosaurs predominate: wildlife, monsters, beasts of burden, and of war. Armored knights ride dinosaurs to battle legions of war-trained Triceratops and their upstart peasant crews.

Karyl Bogomirsky is one such knight who has chosen to rally those who seek a way from the path of war and madness. The fact that the Empire has announced a religious crusade against this peaceful kingdom, the people who just wish to live in peace anathema, and they all are to be converted or destroyed doesn't help him one bit.

Things really turn to mud when the dreaded Grey Angels, fabled ancient weapons of the Gods who created Paradise in the first place come on the scene after almost a millennia. Everyone thought that they were fables used to scare children. They are very much real.

And they have come to rid the world of sin...including all the humans who manifest those vices.

The Dinosaur Knights, the second in Victor Milán's lush, exotic tale about knights riding dinosaurs, is available now.

The Dinosaur Lords are Here!

"Milán (War in Tethyr) takes the arresting idea of knights on dinosaurs and expands it into the beginning of a complex and sweeping epic... Readers who pick this up for the gimmick will relish it for the able storytelling."

Publishers Weekly

"Suffice to say, I'm already desperate for a second volume, and this one hasn't even officially hit the shelves yet! It doesn't matter whether your tastes run more towards epic, heroic, or military fantasy, so long as you have a healthy admiration for dinosaurs, you'll be completely enthralled by The Dinosaur Lords."

Bob Milne Beauty in Ruins

"[I]f you've never read about a charging line of knights mounted on the backs of duckbilled dinosaurs that can honk so loudly their enemies' lungs collapse, you haven't read a good dino war story."

Colin O'Boyle Geek Smash

"What sticks out the most for me is the excitement. People are excited about this book. Other authors are excited about this book.... The Dinosaur Lords could be the start of one of fantasy's greatest new series."

Sam Wildman (preview) NERDOPHILES

A world made by the Eight Creators on which to play out their games of passion and power, Paradise is a sprawling, diverse, often brutal place. Men and women live on Paradise as do dogs, cats, ferrets, goats, and horses. But dinosaurs predominate: wildlife, monsters, beasts of burden – and of war. Colossal planteaters like Brachiosaurus; terrifying meateaters like Allosaurus and the most feared of all, Tyrannosaurus rex. Giant lizards swim warm seas. Birds (some with teeth) share the sky with flying reptiles that range in size from batsized insectivores to majestic and deadly Dragons.

Thus we are plunged into Victor Milán's splendidly weird world of The Dinosaur Lords, a place that for all purposes mirrors 14th century Europe with its dynastic rivalries, religious wars, and byzantine politics…and the weapons of choice are dinosaurs. Where we have vast armies of dinosaur-mounted knights engaged in battle. And during the course of one of these epic battles, the enigmatic mercenary Dinosaur Lord Karyl Bogomirsky is defeated through betrayal and left for dead. He wakes, naked, wounded, partially amnesiac – and hunted. And embarks upon a journey that will shake his world.
