Huzzah! Tor Books finally let the shoe drop on Publisher’s Weekly: nine (9) (Nein? Doch. ja!) new Wild Cards books are in the offing.
And yes, the title is a reference to this. Because I have no power over late-Sixties/early Seventies rock.
First off, I just a few minutes ago sent the copyedited manuscript for the upcoming third installment of The Dinosaur Lords Trilogy, The Dinosaur Princess, back to Tor, having reviewed it, made the few necessary changes, and found it Good.
This one. Not pictured: a princess. As far as I know.
Still, it’s another face-biting-offly awesome cover by Richard Anderson, so I’m gonna roll with it, and advise you to as well.
But wait! There’s more! Oh, my, yes.
Wait for it – drum roll….
Wait, what’s this? A new Wild Cards anthology? That actually has a story by me in it? And is coming out in 2018? Maybe?
No, not this one. It’s the awesome Michael Komarck cover for an upcoming rerelease of a Wild Cards classic. But I am in it, inasmuch as that’s my ace villain Mackie Messer right up there.
Why, yes. And you can read all about it from That American Tolkien Guy himself right here!
Yes, at last I’ve arrived.
I have my own TV Tropes page!
Hi! Remember me?
I was excited enough to discover a few years back that Wild Cards had a TV Tropes page of its own. This one I’m really stoked about.
Hi! I’m back! Did you miss me?
Yes, I have an excuse. And it’s actually a pretty good one. This:
Yes, as in writing it. Yes, as in Book III of The Dinosaur Lords Trilogy! Yes, it’s due out on August 15th, 2017.
Yes, you can preorder it – so far, in hardcover only – from Amazon by clicking the image above. Or here. No Kindle yet, nor Barnes & Noble. But they’re surely coming. (And please remember, you can help support your local fantasy writer by clicking links on this here blog to buy my stuff!)
Have been one of those days.
But not one of those days. Oh, (Dinosaur) Lordy, no.
So let me recap – as best I can even recall:
No, not now! I’m exhausted and my upper back is sore from sitting too long in a hard chair – a small price to pay for an afternoon spent at an awesome Fourth of July party kindly thrown by John Jos and Gail Gerstner-Miller and featuring the likes of, well, them, along with S. M. “Steve” Stirling and his wife Jan, Jane Lindskold and Jim Moore, and Doug Potter and Julie, plus Wild Carder Chip Wideman and a bunch of cool people from the library Gail works at. Oh, and George R. R. Martin.
It was about as swell as you would think.
No, I’m doing an AMA
on Reddit, Thursday, July 7th!
I’m on the schedule and everything!
Today started off with me seeing my first review of The Dinosaur Knights. And omigods it's a good one!
Turns out it’s about knights on dinosaurs! Who knew?
This gratifies me hugely. Not just because it’s what I believe may truly be characterized as a rave review. But because to this reviewer, at least, I imparted pretty much what I hoped to in the book.
And a key perception on her part is that Book I, The Dinosaur Lords, is really the beginning. And Book II, The Dinosaur Knights, is the rest of the story.
As to how that came about – here’s the rest of that story.
