Christmas Eve, Albuquerque, 2008

Just a quick check-in on one of my favorite nights of the year. Everybody’s okay, right?

Good.

Everything’s fine here. Lost my cellphone on a walk Sunday; found out about it Monday. Dang! Anyway, the new and much improved one I bought for ten bucks more than I paid for my old one in ‘03 hasn’t activated yet, so you’re all spared awful blurry photos of my traditional walk on Albuquerque’s Old Town and Country Club district with Joe. Which would’ve featured loads of Chihuahuas. Yes, Burque, it’s Purse Dog Hell out there!

It’s been a good day. Hope it was good for all.

I look forward to the morrow, when I’ll get to see many good friends.

Merry Christmas to all!

I cleared a space and brought the Nativity Scene out Tuesday night. In addition to the family and traditional visitors (shepherds, wise men), I include several non-canon attendants and visitors as well – about 15 cats and a goat. The Tick, balancing on his chin at the peak of the stable. The angels, or whatever they are – they glow in the dark – little guys with big, dark eyes. A fourth wise man, coming from somewhere to the southwest, accompanied by the Zan quadruplets: Arthur, Dave, Irving, and Tar. This year, Tar brought his friend Cheta.

Mom requested a donkey so I found… not just any donkey, but Donkey. He’s accompanied by Puss in Boots. I’m still looking for Shrek and Fiona.

In a couple of days, the other three kings will put in an appearance (the ones with the really short arms, and really big teeth). I’m expecting most of the cats to hide.

Tonight a quartet showed up that would be of particular interest to you, Victor. I got a couple of pictures – if and when this computer acknowledges the existence of the camera card reader, I might be able to show you. Billy left his favorite recreational chemical in the vehicle (parked off-site), but he is carrying his Maremont. Just in case.

    Full lease Navy Dodge!

  • Ah, dear Saraphina! Hope you and the splendid Matt had a wonderful Christmas, and enjoy an excellent New Tear.

As for your question – thereby, as they say, hangs a tale. I’ve got a post half-written recounting my frustrations in getting the new phone to work. I’ve been too overwhelmed by rewriting the latest Annja (plus generally, well, overwhelmed) to finish it.

Cross your fingers that by Monday evening I’ll indeed have my phone functional, with old number intact.

  • Yow, Meowlin, that sounds like a pretty ambitious Nativity.

Needless to say I’d love to see a picture of Billy and the Boys joining the festivities. Especially with his Maremont.
