Naptime dilemma

I never promised you profound.

So, having been up much of the night wired by having finished a story (see last post), per prior arrangement I got a call from my pal Joe a bit past 9:30 this AM to meet him at our usual haunt, VI, for breakfast.  Since his schedule doesn’t allow us much hang-out time, I went.

As always, had a good time. Now I’m home, fried crispy and useless.

Which raises a question: do I take a nap, and risk feeling logy, eerie, and disassociated the rest of the day? Or if I try to just stay up through this evening’s ASFS meeting, will I make myself a menace to myself and others trying to do things like drive?

Decisions, decisions. Just when I’m best-equipped to, y’know, make them.

Ah, well. Think I’m gonna try the nap thing. Hope I can get out for a walk with Emma Dog, but it’s also supposed to rain, and looks it.  We pays our money and we takes our chances. In fact, as far as I can see, we takes our chances regardless.

Oh – driving back from Village Inn I noticed water in the ditch that runs down Second Street near my house. As in, not just that fell there from the sky, but was actively being allowed to flow. This leads to my feeling hope that the other ditches in the area will have water restored to them. It’s getting on that time of year.

What that means for suffering mankind … in this case, suffering dog kind … is that Emma will be comfy walking more places, especially if it’s warm, as I suspect it’s going to be for a spell. She likes to drink, not to mention get in and splash around and generally cool off. She’s also paranoid about drinking water I bring along for her:  she doesn’t want to take it out of a bottle, nor even when I carry a little bowl to pour it into. As indicated before, she’s a bit eccentric sometimes.

Fortunately not to the extent it stops being somewhat charming and turns into a royal pain in the toke.

Last year the ditch that runs like 5-6 blocks west of here, which is a favored walk for reasons of proximity, never had water running steadily. Major annoyance. Also it’s not as if they didn’t have record precipitation last year, or near to it.

This year there may be even more snowpack fixing to melt and run off. So by their logic they’ll probably leave the ditch totally dry.

Ah, well. At least I talked about the tyke enough to justify sticking the ever-popular, hence coveted, Emma! tag on the post.

I never promised you profound.
