My favorite Christmas movies

What’s my favorite Christmas movie of all time? Not a contest.

Oh the weather outside is balmy/Killing terrorists is all that'll calm me...

Oh, the weather outside is balmy/Killing terrorists is all that'll calm me...

Only the very prototype (and pinnacle) of the modern action film. Yes, Die Hard. What else could it be?

The best of the rest:

2. A Christmas Story – also read the book from which it came, In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash.

3. Lethal Weapon – but any Lethal Weapon movie with a numeral is on my least faves list.

4. The Nightmare Before Christmas – my favorite part is the opening “This Is Halloween” number, to the tune of “Here Comes Santa Claus,” no less.

Seems to me there were more, but I draw blank here. I may add some in updates if I recall.

So – what’re your favorite Christmas movies of all time? Drop a comment and let me know!

PS – remember the mouseovers! There’re always mouseovers.

On your #1 Christmas movie… I concur, wholeheartedly.

I’ve been posting my “Top Ten Christmas Songs” for a few years now. This year, I’ve expanded the list to twelve, and may have changed the order a bit. SO… here we go…

#12 – Have Yourself A Merry Frakking Christmas
#11 – The Twelve Steps of Christmas
    #10 – Oh, Holy Cr@p
#9 — The Little Scummy Boy
#8 — Oh, Come On, Ye Faithful
    #7 — I’ll Be Hanged For Christmas
#6 — Oh, Come, Oh, Come, Emmanuelle
#5 — Carol of the Howitzers
#4 — What Fresh Hell Is This? (Bonus Quatloos if you can tell us who wrote this one)
#3 — It’s The Most Depressing Time Of The Year
#2 — You Have The Right To Remain Silent Night

    and

#1 — Do You Smell What I Smell?

    • I like those.

My favorite was “The Twelve Steps of Christmas.”

“What Fresh Hell Is This?” would’ve been written by Algonquin Round Table stalwart Dorothy Parker.

I admit I cheated and Goggled it. But in my defense, I knew the phrase, and knew who it came from, but couldn’t freaking remember. And it was driving me nuts. QED.

You’re the first person to give any indication of even understanding the joke of “…Twelve Steps…”

And you have indeed earned those bonus Quatloos. Don’t wager ‘em all on one thrall.

  • Not sure that I have a favorite Christmas song. I never had much holiday spirit to begin with, and I’ve been working the past five holiday seasons in a discount warehouse store, either on register or chasing and stopping shoplifters. Thus whatever holiday spirit I once had has been smashed, burned and stuffed down a black hole, just Dan Halen disposed of a dead hooker and a family member in God’s Bro. Still, if I had to name one favorite X-mas song, it would be Kevin Bloody Wilson’s “Hey Santa Claus”.
