Yes, I did it. I finally joined Facebook.
Yeah, I’ll link to my page (Wall?) when I figure out how.
I’d resisted. For a long time I was reluctant on account of a little revision of their Terms of Use last year that appeared to assert Facebook’s perpetual ownership of everything you posted there, including your name and likeness. Which was so not happening.
My likeness may not be much. But it is, well, mine.
So one friend asked, a trifle tartly, why I used the unacceptability of the Terms of Use when I declined that person’s invitation to join Facebook, but joined now. “Because they changed them to my satisfaction,” I said. And it appears they have.
So anyway. I’ve, naturally enough, frittered away a bunch of time in the day or so since I joined. What’s more, I broke down and signed up for my own YouTube Channel. I’m going all the way, here.
(I would’ve said “the Full Monty,” but I’ve already given one friend nightmares tonight…)
I’m doing these things for professional reasons. No, really. I’m getting frighteningly near the point I’m going to have something to sell, and I need to sell it hard. It’s time to take steps … though not to distract myself from finishing the book.
Too much.
So, if you’re on Facebook, please hit me up. I’ll be getting links up here once I figure out what’s what.
And yes, I will be giving VictorMilan01′s YouTube Channel a workout soon, thank you very much.
Next thing you know, I’ll be dating musicians.

Not sure whether you are aware, but you can automagically have your Twitter posts show up in your Facebook feed. (http://apps.facebook.com/selectivetwitter/) Opinions are mixed as to whether that’s a good thing to do…
Jeez, Janice, you’re quick!
And cool. Thanks for the info. I’ve tried to get the Twitter app to work without success. Seeing the page you linked to makes me wonder if that’s just as well. The Selective Twitter app, with the option to forward only the Tweets I choose, looks more appealing…
Glad the info was helpful!
As indeed it was, since I’ve got Selective Twitter up and working.
Now if I could only get Wordbooker, which allegedly sends notice of new blog posts to Facebook, to work as advertised…
I have yet to figure out what Facebook is for. James Corey has a facebook page, and I dutifully log into it every couple of days or so, but I can’t for the life of me find any reason to stay logged in or do anything there.
It appears to be just a giant free for all instant messenger service. Which, if you’re into that, is probably awesome. But I am not.
I guess you have to do it if you want to make the publishers happy, though. When James has some news to post, it will get posted there.
I find it’s been useful, and expect it to be more. Especially for the Big Promotional Push soon to come.
I’ve reconnected with a couple different networks, especially Midwest SF fans. Plus it’s nice communicating with some old friends I haven’t talked to much for a long time.
