Yesterday was Critical Mass day. I love writers group. I always learn a bunch. After a post-session dinner at a nice Thai restaurant downtown I’d not been to before we got to discussing Classics Illustrated Comics. Turned out a lot of us grew up on them. Small surprise, I suspect. Turned out we also largely shared [...] I’m not doing enough. Not writing enough, not exercising enough. Not creating enough pleasure in my life. Not getting enough juice out of life, as Tony Robbins puts it. Also I’m not getting younger, fuck it anyway. I truly believe that in the very near future our lives – that’s productive, vigorous, joyous life, not having [...] I’ve always been pretty secretive about my writing. Basically, I’ve always had a lot of self-doubt in the area. Big surprise, huh? Here’s another: since I signed onto Twitter perhaps a month ago I’ve wasted a fair amount of time on Tweeting. But during the terminal phase of the draft of The Dinosaur Lords, as in just [...] Okay, desperado. Walter Jon Williams found the ride too bumpy to write. And it was only in my journal. So tonight (technically last night, Wednesday, but I ain’t been to bed yet) was our monthly writers’ group, cleverly named Critical Mass. Owing to a difficult situation one of our members finds himself in carpooling from Albuquerque [...] As I near The End, it becomes so.

Last Saturday afternoon I suddenly decided, and announced on Twitter, that I was embarking upon a fast on news and opinion. By that I meant I wouldn’t voluntarily seek out news or opinions on current events or (especially) politics, online or in any other medium. My friend Larry has long been my Number One Go-To Geek. Recently he decided it was time to boot me in the fanny in just the direction mentioned above. Not [...] Yes! It’s dark out there, people. I was driving north about half an hour ago after seeing Hellboy II with some friends (good movie, not great) when suddenly the streetlights went out. So did most others.
