… As well as the Masquerade. That’s pretty much the con report. Had a lot of fun, got too little sleep (not for fun reasons, either. Mostly.) Talked to a lot of old friends. Made some new ones. Kinda went … like this: My first YouTube video! Archon 35 Con Report from the Doubletree Lobby That’s pretty [...] Back from Archon safe & tired. Had fun. Plus: me in a tux! I’m lying on my bed in my own bedroom with my feet up, Squeak lying beside me on the bed, and TJ sitting on the bedside table, both conveniently located for Daddy to pet them. Which Daddy is happily doing; I missed them too. Meanwhile Bubonicon 41 Author Guest of Honor Michael Cassutt is on [...] Having a fine time at Archon! Yesterday started out with a reading – at one point I had as many as six people! Granted, one was an old friend and two were very young young ladies, a daughter of a friend of his and her friend, whom he had dragooned into coming along. Still. I read [...] Don’t get it. Do not. Get it. Just had a pleasant 12:30 AM conversation on the nature of science fiction/fantasy cons with Larry the Helpful Maintenance Guy who just came up and fixed the climate control in my room – the sensor in the unit that detects the thermostat’s commands, which seems to me to [...] And so am I! So I was flying from Denver to St. Louis (no direct flights from Albuquerque anymore) and tapping assiduously away at my netbook. The pleasant if somewhat nervous young woman sitting next to me finally asked, “Are you writing a book?” And I had the supreme pleasure of being able to answer, “Yes, as [...] … to emcee the Archon 32 Masquerade, than my damn tuxedo pants began to fall down. We had a packed house – standing room only, plus, I later learned, a boatload of people watching the show on big-screen TV in an overflow room (plus riffing on me and the contestants MST3K style, which is surely gilding [...] Went off well. If I do say so myself, since I was Toastmaster. Because they always rent me a tux for my gig as Masquerade MC (which I also am this year) I decided to wear it tonight for OCs. Which went over well enough. I don’t know if I was even the slickest-dressed [...] |
