So after many evolutions, and two minutes-burning cell phone calls to SWCP tech support (who were helpful, anyway), we seem to be back in business: connected to DSL via wireless network. more animals The cause of my woes, it appears and I’m actively hoping, was interference by Zonealarm free firewall software. It’s served well in [...] And now we achieve our first broadband outage. It figures. That honeymoon lasted 12 hours. Thanks, SWCP! My notebook says it signs in fine to the wireless net, gets a good connection and a strong signal. But no Web and no email. And of course I notice the problem right after 10 PM … when their office closes. *Sigh* [...] I’m looking to make the long-deferred move to broadband, simply because the Heartbreak of Dialup™ has become too, well, heartbreaking. Plus on those occasions I actually need to use the Net in the course of my occupation (it happens) it’s no more rewarding or useful to spend minutes waiting for a page to load than [...] |
