Another year, another Wild Cards signing! This time out Melinda Snodgrass, Daniel Abraham, John J. Miller, Caroline Spector, Ian Tregillis, and of course, Victor Milán (dot’s I’m!) will be signing the concluding volume of our current Committee triad, Suicide Kings. Also. I always learn a bunch. After a post-session dinner at a nice Thai restaurant downtown I’d not been to before we got to discussing Classics Illustrated Comics. Turned out a lot of us grew up on them. History’s all full of sex, intrigue, greed, passion, spectacle, treachery, quests, pursuits, color, eccentrics, weirdness, wildness, perversity, heroes and villains (mostly villains), melody, noise, incense and decay, betrayal, grandiosity, more sex, folly, and humor. And of course duels, affrays, dust-ups, murderings, backstabbings, bushwhackings, shootings, slaughterings, battles, and mayhem. And sex. Did I mention sex? These [...] Okay, desperado. Walter Jon Williams found the ride too bumpy to write. And it was only in my journal. So tonight (technically last night, Wednesday, but I ain’t been to bed yet) was our monthly writers’ group, cleverly named Critical Mass. Owing to a difficult situation one of our members finds himself in carpooling from Albuquerque [...] Everything’s better with zombies – so goes the theme for this year’s Bubonicon. I’d argue everything goes better with dinosaurs, myself.
