So last night I got to attend the exclusive “Cocktails with the Wild Cards Chic and Luminaries of the New Mexican League of Authors” party, hosted by our representative, SF and fantasy super-agent Kay McCauley, at the Hotel Santa Fe. (Which, it will surprise you to learn, is in Santa Fe.) And you know what? It [...] Yes, that could be construed as a plug for my solo Wild Cards novel of a suspiciously similar name. Except it’s not available except used. Currently. Spoiler: now available in ebook form! And that could be about to change, because our current publisher Tor Books (who also have the extraordinary taste and discernation to be the future [...] While linking to yet another rendition of my current favorite story on Facebook, my friend Aaron Birenboim asks the musical question, “Will the other Wild Card contributors be getting a piece of this pie?” And the answer is yes. Yes, we will. Would Wild Cards stoop to using sex to sell? We – that’s all official Wild [...] During the run-up to Bubonicon (which was swell, by the way – there, that’s my con report) Scott Phillips asked me to join him, Scott Denning, and John Jos. Miller on a panel late Friday night about the blog they all write for called Cheese Magnet. Pictured: foreshadowing! (“They” being those nebulous Authorities, who always somehow know your business better [...] Looking to write some steampunk. And wondering: are airships overdone? Just got a Facebook message from a friend who asked if it was acceptable, in a story she was writing, to describe as a background detail a poster starring an actress in a real-world movie she in fact was never in. My answer? Why they hell not? Reality: improved! One of my major concerns as a writer [...] New take on the best version of H. G. Wells’s Martian Death Machines ever. |
