Who lies first, determines Truth
I don't know whether or not it's what the invaluable Arthur Silber means in the URL for his blog Once Upon a Time… (wherein among other great things he systematically exposes the Bipartisan Lie that so effectively enslaves so many, including smart and committed freedom fighters who ought bloody well know better.) But of late I have become acutely aware of the power of narrative.
This guy used the power of narrative control ...
It's a simple concept, really: who tells the story first, and gets that story accepted as truth first, determines what everybody then and later regards as the Truth.
